Description
La Pirogue is a relaxed, spacious resort on the beautiful, sunset coast of this tropical paradise. Individual sea-facing chalets are surrounded by a lush private palm grove. Its 35 acres of tropical gardens front a reef-protected white sand beach. The individually thatched roofed rooms, are scattered throughout the spacious gardens. Famous for its friendly staff and excellent service, guests return year after year to this resort. The resort has undergone a US $7 million renovation, all the rooms have been totally refurbished with brand new bathrooms. The public areas have all been renovated and the pool is now a 1000m infinity pool, the main restaurant Thatches, offers a wide choice of cuisine with live cooking cooking stations. The Paul & Virginie Restaurant has been expanded and upgraded. Guests of La Pirogue & Sugar Beach Resort can interchange facilities.
Rooms
248 rooms in thatched cottage units set in the gardens, all with air-conditioning, TV with in-house movies, telephone, mini-bar, bath, shower and terrace. Each has a traditional island Pirogue-shaped roof, creating light and airy rooms. All the bedrooms at La Pirogue lead directly onto the beach through the fragrant tropical gardens. The ground floor accommodations are especially suited to families with very young children. All rooms and bathrooms have recently undergone renovation.

Fitness and Beauty Centres available at Sugar Beach. Free sports include recreation programme, floodlit tennis (charge for equipment), table tennis, minigolf, laser sailing, pedalos, kayaks, glass bottom trips, snorkelling, windsurfing, waterskiing, volleyball, aquagym classes, aerobics - all sports subject to availability. Watersports at a supplement: scuba diving, parasailing, big game fishing and banana tube rides.
Dining
The main restaurant, Thatches, overlooks the swimming pool and serves buffet-style breakfast, lunchtime pizzas and pasta and themed dinners and barbecues.
Paul & Virginie à la carte restaurant (charge) serving grills, seafood and Mauritian specialities, there is also a choice of bars and snacks and afternoon tea poolside plus a beach restaurant. Nightly entertainment includes live bands, shows.
